Robert Pratt, DVM
Dr. Robert Pratt was born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of central New York. He received his bachelor’s degree of science with honors from Cornell University in 1997. As an undergraduate work study student in the veterinary anesthesia department he developed an appreciation for the invaluable services veterinarians provide for both animals and their owners.
After completing his undergraduate education, Dr. Pratt joined the United States Peace Corps (Morocco). In the Peace Corps, Dr. Pratt served as an agricultural extensionist at a grass roots level in the central plateau region of Morocco. Upon returning to the states in 1999, he moved to Chicago. After spending a summer at the University of Chicago completing a study in the anesthesia department, he headed off to London to obtain his veterinary degree.
Dr. Pratt graduated from The Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2004. In his final year he focused on anesthesia, one of his main interests. He returned to his home town in central New York after graduation and accepted a position in a mixed animal practice. Dr. Pratt also provided spay and neuter services for shelters and low income households while living in central New York.
Through colleagues in New York, Dr. Pratt developed an interest in emergency and critical care. He has worked in emergency medicine for approximately 10 years. Dr. Pratt enjoys running and travel. He has one very relaxed orange cat, Serge, who is a retired blood donor.
